The week was capped by the Justice Department calling on Congress to enact new laws to protect voters in the wake of rulings by Republicans' packed-and-stolen rightwing U.S. Supreme Court upholding two new voting restrictions in Arizona, both of which have been shown to disproportionately impact minority voters in AZ.  Rightwing Justice Samuel Alito invented new 'guidelines' that ignore both Congress' intent in passing the Voting Rights Act and the very plain language of the Constitution.  President, CEO and co-founder of the Fair Elections Center, ROBERT BRANDON, explains Alito's new, made-up guidelines, describing them as a 'a real departure' from conservatives' claims of reverence for so-called originalism and Constitutional textualism, and will make it even harder to defeat voter suppression laws in court.
