Sevam1 was an early YouTube sensation with his swing style and observations about how many great golfers, particularly Ben Hogan, swung the golf club. His backyard-style videos became folklore among people just being introduced to the concept of using the ground. Mike brilliantly tapped into Hogan’s phrase “The secret is in the dirt” as he set out on a golfing journey that would ultimately lead to founding a social platform of the same name, with Steve Elkington as his sidekick. This is a great conversation. Mike and I have amazingly similar views about the pressures of the swing, and it’s no coincidence that when he talked swing, he made mentions of the same ideas I use with drill 1 and drill 2 of my teaching series, as far as forearm rotation and the ground forces that ultimately shape the swing.
