Brain-computer interfaces | guests T. Vakarelsky and I. Gligorijevic | [Agent 001 #44]

Listen Later

In this episode, Kiv and Tulechki sit down with Ivan Gligorijevic (CEO & Co-founder, mBrainTrain) and Teodor Vakarelsky (Bulgarian Academy of Sciences) to talk about brain-computer interfaces and their work in the VIBraTE EU 🇪🇺research projet (g.a 101086815).
We cover what EEG can actually measure today, where it’s already being used (medicine, research, wearables), and why “reading thoughts” is still way harder than people think. We also compare non-invasive EEG to invasive implants—and what each approach can realistically deliver.
In the second part, we dig into the real engineering problem behind implants: the brain is soft, moving, and viscoelastic, while electrodes are rigid—leading to tissue damage, inflammation, and scar tissue that breaks long-term performance. That’s where VIBraTE comes in: modeling these interactions to design safer, longer-lasting interfaces.
At the end, we go full sci-fi: if we solve the biology and the bandwidth, what does a future with brain-AI integration look like—and what are the privacy and ethics risks we’re walking into?
В този епизод Кив и Тулечки разговарят с Иван Глигориeвич (CEO и съосновател на mBrainTrain) и Теодор Вакарелски (БАН) за работата им по европейския проект VIBraTE 🇪🇺 (g.a 101086815).
