Forward After Fifty

Brain Health With Music on the MInd

Listen Later

We know that brain exercise is essential for health forward after fifty, but have you ever considered how playing a musical instrument could benefit your brain? I admit I had the ageist view that learning an instrument was for the under-fifties, even under twenty! I've been proven wrong by established musician and teacher Rachel Halliwell whose venture Music on the Mind encourages adults over fifty to learn the violin.
Rachel says 'Teaching people to put their life experiences into something creative will be a fantastic project for me - but ultimately for the people involved. It will benefit them on many levels, from socialising to learning a new skill to improving and maintaining their memory and keeping them healthier physically.'
The launch concert for "Music on the Mind" is in Eyragues France on 25th June at 15h. If you'd like to know more and work with Rachel or come to the concert, you can contact her by visiting her website https://maisonprovence.net/violin
