Brazil just experienced the mirror image of our nation's Capital Jan 6 invasion by hundreds of supporters of former President Bolsonaro. Supporters loyal to the ex-president camped out for days near military bases, demanding the military step in to restore Bolsonaro back to power as president. What was their reason for this drastic interruption of democracy? Would we be surprised to learn that they claimed the election was a 'rigged election'? As Trump called insurrectionists to Washington DC, so did Bolsonaro cry out that the election was stolen due to malfunctioning voting machines and fake news. Almost point by point the invasion of Brazil's Supreme Court, National Congress, and Planalto Palace was identical to our own Capital attack. The major difference was on the day of attack, 209 insurrectionists were taken into custody and 1,000  were arrested the day after the attack. The panel explores to what degree did Jan 6 influence this event in Brazil.
