In today's episode of Break the Board, we'll be talking about the sports slate for May 18th, 2023.
NBA
Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat set fire to the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, winning 118-107. Butler had 41 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Bam Adebayo added 20 points and 12 rebounds. The Heat shot 50% from the field and 40% from three-point range, while the Celtics shot 44% from the field and 30% from three-point range. Game 2 will be played in Boston on Tuesday night.
The Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers will face off in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals tonight. The Nuggets won Game 1 126-121. Nikola Jokic had 37 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Jamal Murray added 25 points. The Lakers were led by LeBron James, who had 38 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. The Nuggets shot 49% from the field and 40% from three-point range, while the Lakers shot 47% from the field and 33% from three-point range.
NHL
The Eastern Conference Finals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin tonight with the Florida Panthers taking on the Carolina Hurricanes. The Panthers are the top-seeded team in the East, while the Hurricanes are the second-seeded team. The Panthers have home-ice advantage in the series.
PGA Championship
The 104th PGA Championship will begin today at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The tournament will be played over four days, with the final round being played on Sunday. The defending champion is Justin Thomas.
MLB
We went 2-1 last night in baseball and we also go over some of my favorite games on the slate.
