Romans 12:21 says "Overcome evil with good". We have the ability to over come bad habits with good by inviting Holy Spirit in to help us by giving us the strength to overcome. He said in his word that we are more than conquerors and we are over comers and we are the head and not the tail, we are above and not beneath.
