Gershon served as an advisor to Yitzhak Rabin on the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and advised a secret team of intelligence officers established by Mr. Rabin and was the initiator and negotiator of the secret back channel between Israel and Hamas for the release of Israeli soldier Gilad Schalit.
