We are conditioned to believe that to be worthy, there are some pre-requisites we have to meet. But worthiness does not have pre-requisites; it is a birthright, and we are all worthy. This week, I'm sharing my second interview with Brené Brown, where we explore this further.
Dr. Brené Brown is a research professor at the University of Houston where she holds the Huffington Foundation Brené Brown Endowed Chair at The Graduate College of Social Work. She has spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy and is the author of five #1 New York Times bestsellers.
Brené believes that our worthiness lives inside our stories. We have a choice to own those stories and share them with people who have earned the right to hear them or we can spend our time hustling for our worthiness; constantly proving, perfecting, performing, and pleasing on a never-ending search for satisfaction.
Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we'll ever do. I invite you to assess your own stories and ask yourself, are you hearing them? Who are the people who have earned the right to hear your story?
Tune in this week as we talk about all things shame and worthiness, and the power of owning and sharing our stories. Discover some key learnings from this episode that still apply almost 10 15 years later, and learn what keeps us feeling small and unworthy in our lives.
