We need to plumb the depths of our own human hearts and depravity in verse 3, to fully appreciate the great Love and kindness of God in verse 5.

We may think God has forgiven me that many times, God must be just tolerating me after having forgiven me over and over.

According to His mercy, He saved us.

The kindness and love of our God appeared. Our Saviour is kind.
