On November 7, 2025, East Hampton High School's football team won a playoff game. For most of the schools that they competed against this year, that wouldn't be a big deal. But for East Hampton, this was something that hadn't happened in 34 years. In fact, only six or seven (see what I did there, parents?) years ago, there was no football program at all. It had withered and all but died for a lack of interest. But Joe McKee was interested. And almost single handedly, over the course of the next few years, Joe brought football back to East Hampton. First with a limited high school team, then with an extensive community flag football program, culminating in this year's county semi-final defeat at the hands of the eventual All Long Island Champion Sayville Golden Flashes. It's been a long road, with lots of twists and turns, bumps and roadblocks, but neither McKee, nor the players of this most recent team of players, led by a stellar group of dedicated, talented and motivated players, would be denied.
