I started playing the guitar when I was 10 years old. This was aprox 1978. Over the next number of years I played acoustic guitar until 1984 when I got my first electric guitar. That was really awesome. Then I was asked by a friend to come and jam. This is where everything changed. I was introduced to our drummer John in 1984. Then we became instant friends. Then we all went to a music festival on July 1st 1985 Canada Day weekend and this is where we met Tim, our guitar player. By this time I was already starting to play bass guitar. But in the early days of Marathon I was a rhythm guitar player. By 1987 I had moved onto and was no longer playing with them as I was jamming with people. In 1988 joined a metal band as their bass player. This lasted about 7 months. After this I jammed with John and Tim in March 1989. This would be the final jam session with them until 2020.

In the between years I had got married, raised a family, jammed with few other people in between but overall fairly quiet. Then the pandemic started and two things happened. I received a call from the guitar player that I was in a band with back in 1988 asking if I was still playing the bass. I said yes. He asked if I would lay a bass line doen for a song they were working on as they had just fired there bass player. I did and this brought back some great memories. I then thought about John and I called him. I asked him what he was doing and said nothing. I then asked if he was jamming with anybody and he said no. I then asked the legendary question "do you want to reform Marathon"? He said yes, called Tim. I did and the rest is history.

The story doesn't end there as we were unable to get together as the lockdown in Ontario Canada was just starting. We did skype every week. We dusted off old songs and started working on material that way. But, over the next 8 months we skyped almost every week and emailed versions of songs back and forth. Fast forward and our drummer John moved to Durham Region where both Tim and I live. Now all three of us live 15 minutes apart. We were finally able to get together in October 2020 and jam and wow we still had the magic. We then started the recording process and completed our Debut EP.
