Former Atlanta Braves outfielder Brian Jordan joined The Midday Show with Rick Kamla and John Michaels live from Orlando where he's watching the Braves in Grapefruit League action.
Jordan told us that Ronald Acuña is special and has incredible power. He compared the prospect to a cocky Andruw Jones back in the day. Jordan talked about how to weigh the right time to bring Acuna to the big league in regard to his contract and the control the Braves would have over him. However, if it were up to him him, he would have Acuna on the roster on opening day.
Jordan praised second baseman Ozzie Albies for the way he has fit in with the team and looks like he belongs right now and showing power from both sides of the plate. He also mentioned he feels good about Dansby Swanson and Albies playing next to each other.
The slider being used by Julio Tehran during spring training will help him at SunTrust Park and will enable him to go in on hitters more this season like he has thus far, believes Jordan. He thinks Tehran will be in the 15 to 20-win range this season if he stays healthy and could make the All-Star team.
Swanson will be fine, said Jordan, and doesn’t care or look at batting averages and thinks he will be fine when the season rolls around.
