Brian received an undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley in 1973. He not only saw a need for dedicated lawyers but was attracted to the idea of gaining a wide variety of experience and being challenged. In 1976, Brian graduated from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago.   His first legal job was as a staff attorney for the Andrus Gerontology Center at USC in Los Angeles, serving indigent senior citizens. From there he moved to Santa Rosa to head the Sonoma County Council on Aging legal services program for senior citizens there.  Brian then moved to San Jose for a job as managing attorney for one of the Hyatt Legal Services offices. After a few years, he decided to move to Sacramento and he opened up his own office there. Since 1983, Brian has been a sole practitioner in the Sacramento area.  While in the legal services programs in LA and Santa Rosa he developed expertise in government benefits (SSI, Social Security, etc., probate, and landlord/tenant). Since then Biran's practice has included family law (which he no longer handles), criminal defense (which he also no longer handles), general civil matters, bankruptcy, and especially real estate.  Brian is married and has one daughter, from a prior marriage.
