Russia's Investigative Committee has launched a pre-investigation check into the actions of police officers after a video of a crying boy being forcefully led away and shoved into a police car in central Moscow gained the attention of the online community and human rights advocates. The boy was reading 'Hamlet' out loud detained in Moscow. His parents were detained and citizens are questioning whether it is police brutality.
Russian students win the software programming competition in the US (again)
A team of programmers from the St. Petersburg University of IT, Mechanics and Optics have once again won the annual ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), setting a new record with their 7th champions cup. The Champion Cup of 2017 was raised by Russian students of the department of computer technologies – Vladimir Smykalov, Ivan Belonogov and Ilya Zban.
