Chances are, there are people in the world who are rooting against you; which makes you feel justified to root against them. This is the ebb and flow of relationships in our world. Yet, Jesus has called us to be in the world, but not of it. This week in His sermon on the Mount, He calls His followers to do the unthinkable, to love those that they don’t even like.

We have all had a moment when we wanted to be the tip of the spear of poetic justice. When a pound of flesh seemed like the most just dessert. This is a natural reaction to being dishonored, taken advantage of and objectified but is it the way of Jesus? In the sermon on the Mount, Jesus challenges the desire for vigilante justice and paints a picture of how we can preserve our dignity through humility, service, and grace.

Marriage is a beautiful gift from God, but due to sin, it can become a devastating human experience.

In a religious society that believed outward behavior and appearance was the most important, Jesus breaks the mold and
preaches about where true righteousness is really found. He continues to challenge His listeners as Jesus approaches the
subject of lust and adultery.
