In communities affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and abuse, finding justice is often an uphill battle. Survivors face many barriers in reporting crimes or identifying perpetrators, ranging from fear of retaliation to mistrust of the system. In such contexts, informants — individuals who covertly gather intelligence for law enforcement — can play a unique and impactful role. By collaborating with victim advocates and being sensitive to the needs of survivors, informants have the potential to contribute meaningfully to justice while prioritizing the well-being of those affected.
