If you recall our last program, pastor Lloyd was using the behavior of the Israelites in the Wilderness as a good example of what to avoid as a Christian. Remember, Jude's main focus is contending for the faith, and if we start acting like we have no faith, as the Israelites did, it's not going to do us any good at all.

As nice as it is to seek out good examples to live by, it's not a bad idea to seek out bad examples to avoid, wouldn't you agree? That's what we'll do over the next several broadcasts. Today pastor Lloyd takes us to Jude verses five through seven for a look at a bad example to avoid - the Israelites in the wilderness.

As Christians, we are called to be contenders, and that's the main theme of Jude's epistle, being "contenders" for the faith. Looking for practical ways to accomplish that goal?

There have been some very charismatic spiritual leaders in our history. Billy Graham led millions to a relationship with Jesus. Men like Greg Laurie and Luis Palau come to mind. But then there are those like L. Ron Hubbard and Jim Jones who have led thousands astray. As we continue to learn how to contend for the faith, one of the things pastor will talk about is just how dangerous false teaching is.

Jude sought to warn believers of the dangers of hanging out with "part time" Christians. It's a warning that we would be well served to heed today. Here's Lloyd Pulley with the conclusion of a study in the epistle of Jude, verses one through three.

As misunderstood and underestimated as the Holy Spirit is, we can never spend too much time getting to know Him, and what He can do when we utilize His incredible power. To use the Holy Spirit's power in our lives is to submit to His power. That's not necessarily something we're good at, so let's look to Ephesians chapter five for help.

Today we will once again be addressing the topic of prayer. What is the purpose when we pray? How often should we pray? Does God really answer prayers? Those are some commonly asked questions. The main point pastor Lloyd is sharing in this message is that prayer can be a powerful means to align our lives with God's will.

Today Lloyd continues his new series called "Basic Christian Living", by sharing a message on prayer. When you talk about the basics of our Christian walk, prayer is certainly part of the list, right? I guess when you break prayer down to it's bare essence, what we're doing is talking with God. But as with so many other parts of our relationship with God, there is a right way and a wrong way to pray.
