Brigham City announced five new employees during the Aug. 21 City Council meeting, including two experienced police officers, a city planner, and two staff members in finance. The police department hired Robert Palmer and Kevin Bennett as lateral master officers. A lateral officer is one who transfers from another agency with prior law enforcement experience, rather than entering as a new recruit. Although the city usually holds an oath and badge-pinning ceremony for police and fire hires, none was conducted for the two officers at this meeting.
