On today’s edition of Bring It On!, hosts Clarence Boone and Dr. Gloria Howell spend the hour with Ignoisco Miles and Shatoyia Moss to discuss Bloomington’s celebration of this year’s Juneteenth holiday. They are here to represent the remarkable community partnership bringing Bloomington’s 2026 Juneteenth Celebration to life. Led by the City of Bloomington’s Community and Family Resources Department and presented in collaboration with Indiana University’s Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center, the Indiana University African American Arts Institute, and Food Truck Friday, this year’s celebration promises to be a meaningful and memorable event.
Taking place on Friday, June 19, at Switchyard Park, the free, family-friendly gathering will commemorate freedom, celebrate Black culture and achievement, and foster community through live entertainment, food, educational opportunities, and fellowship.
Ignoisco Miles is the director of Camp S.O.U.L., which stands for Students Obtaining Unique Musical Levels. Camp S.O.U.L. will host its summer experience on the Indiana University campus from June 14 through June 19 through Indiana University’s African American Arts Institute for incoming IU students.
Ignoisco Miles is an artist, teacher, director, and winner of the premiere season of The Big Nailed It Baking Challenge on Netflix. Now living in Phoenix, AZ., Ignoisco currently works as an Assistant Principal for Performing Arts at the Arizona School for the Arts. He also continues to serve as the Artistic Director for Camp S.O.U.L., a summer music intensive which is steeped in the history, performance, and practice of Black music in America. Shatoyia Moss is the director of the City of Bloomington’s Community and Family Resources Department. Moss has been the Safe & Civil City Program Director for the Community and Family Resources Department (CFRD) since 2018.
Additionally, she serves on the boards of New Hope for Families, IU Credit Union, and Leadership Bloomington-Monroe County. In 2022, she was selected by President Barack Obama to participate in the Obama Leaders Foundation’s inaugural cohort for the United States. Before working for the City of Bloomington, Moss served as the Director of Indiana Kids, a mentoring and tutoring program at Indiana University. Moss holds a Bachelor of Science from Indiana University.
