Have you noticed that people in your family, your small group at church and even your “besties” are dividing over not just big issues — but small ones?  What happens when our friends and loved ones fall “on the wrong side of the issues” we care about? The election, post-election, Covid restrictions, vaccine pros and cons… the list goes on and on! 
 
This week on Bring It Up my guest cohost is Lisa Anderson, Director of Focus on the Family’s Boundless ministry to singles. Together, we’re throwing back the curtain on why we as God’s people — who think of ourselves as loving, tolerant and accepting — have become so divided over secondary issues that have no bearing on our faith. This week, Lisa and I will delve into questions like: What does our frustration/anger reveal? Why is it so hard to tolerate a difference of opinion? Do I desire to be a learner? Where does my information come from? Why must I surround myself only with those who agree with me?
 
Jesus Himself prayed for His church to be unified, to walk in love towards one another so that the world would know we are His. This week we will talk about what unity looks like in a world where offense and division are the order of the day. We will talk about what it looks like to seek peace and pursue it… to live as lights of love and grace, both inside and outside the Church.
 
So, if you find yourself growing increasingly frustrated by the opinions of others around you, if your peace is disrupted by all the noise, if you feel compelled to “weigh in” on matters that are not essential, join us this week on Bring It Up as we find our footing once again in the beautiful guidelines of Scripture. The truth is, Jesus calls us to live differently than our culture, to think differently, to pursue a completely different agenda that leads to life and health, hope and the greatest joy and unity imaginable!
