According to the idea of Dunbar’s number, we all have about 150 people that we know reasonably well - knowing their name, their profession, their interests.

That means there are more than 11,000 combinations of friends we could bring together - more with every acquaintance that we meet.

When we say to someone “Maybe you’d like to meet my friend Beto; he’s also interested in rock climbing,” many times they will not act on it. But occasionally they will, and form a lasting friendship.

They might even remember that it was you who helped them meet. Or perhaps they will just enjoy each others’ company.
