Writing Black Joy

Bringing play into the writing process with Gary Ware

Listen Later

This week I am joined by Gary Ware.

Gary is many things as you will hear shortly - a self proclaimed creative catalyst, and corporate facilitator. He is also a master at play and that is something we dive into as we talk about his upcoming book which is all about play.

Gary and I talked about his writing process and how he completed his “play-book'' as someone who has dyslexia and ADHD and how he brought play into the process.

He also talked about seeing the world as a proving ground vs as a playground of possibilities, illustrations for a book that isn’t a children’s book, working with a graphic designer or facilitator and the importance of collaboration in the book writing process.

You can check out season 1 and other season 2 guests of Writing Black Joy over on https://www.writingblackjoy.com/

You can jump on his mailing list to be the first to know when his book comes out over at https://www.breakthroughplay.com/

Gary also suggested that you take a look at the magic of Eric Jones and I found a clip here on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL9U4UXnezA

Gary and I talked about one of our favourite books The Night Circus and you can find it here https://www.amazon.com/Night-Circus-Erin-Morgenstern/dp/0307744434
