Coming from an impoverished environment I was always sold the idea that if I left things would get better. Whether it was financially or educationally I was conditioned to believe that the suburbs offered more opportunities than the inner city did. As a child I took this ideology and ran with it. At 20 years old I got my first and only high rise apartment 5 miles outside of Cleveland, Ohio. Since then I've lived in multiple neighboring suburbs for the last 10 years. But once I finally purchased a home in the suburbs I had a shocking revelation that my neighborhood wasn't that much different from where I started.
