Self-taught abstract-expressionist Brittany Mona is an artist from Maryland. Their work emphasizes Black faces, culture, heritage, and influences across the African diaspora. Their inspiration pours from Black culture, ancestral downloads, and the Black community.
Patterns, lines, shapes, and symbols are reflected throughout their pieces to stay rooted and pay homage to my ancestors. These elements are used as a communication tool in the Black community from our hairstyles, body art, fashion, fabrics, garments, and tiles.
They work with various mediums: spray paints, acrylics, pastels, and clay. They hope that my pieces spark joy, creativity, and inquiry. Their art is available to anyone who feels drawn to it.
