New proposed FCC broadband standard of 100 Mbps downlink and 20 Mbps uplink (termed as "100/20"), dramatically increases the underserved Internet user population to over 40 million Americans in 2022. Should the new standard become law, WISP and broadband providers will need to dramatically upgrade their networks to meet the new speed benchmarks while still providing services at affordable rates.
