Will it end with lawsuits? What are the successes, and barriers, and outlook? To find out, I spoke with Lynn Chadwick and Kathleen Dooley of the non-profit themisresourcefund.org.
According to Lynn: “Our mission is to assist detransitioned people with litigation in the US. We do that by helping attorneys to get started with representing these unique clients, networking with attorneys and others who are key to this mission, connecting plaintiffs with attorneys, and funding litigation costs as we are able.”
Lynn got her start in parent advocacy while working as a neonatal intensive care nurse. She began advocating for parents with kids experiencing ROGD in 2019. Lynn founded Themis Resource Fund in 2023. For more on Kathleen, see her LinkedIn profile.
Psychologist Sara Stockton is one of the rare clinicians who was once all-in on gender-affirmation and is now all-out…or, well, mostly out? Still processing? In-n-Out?
What’s it like to grapple with the reality of what happened to one’s affirmed patients? What’s it like to speak up and join a community and witness that community falter under pressure? What should happen in the therapy room when treating gender dysphoric youth? Where do we go from here?
We shall discuss!
Bio:
Sara Stockton, LMFT, is a licensed marriage and family therapist, lecturer, researcher, and clinical supervisor who has spent over 15 years specializing in gender dysphoria among youth and families. She co-authored one of the first U.S. readiness assessments for medical gender transition, published in 2013 in the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy. After growing concerned about informed consent, she began speaking publicly in 2022. She has since testified before state legislatures on best care for minors and served as an expert witness in family court. Stockton’s work is dedicated to helping therapists reclaim their professional authority, understand the pressures facing youth, and speak up for evidence-informed care.

Therapist Joe Burgo joins me on episode three of my series on the future of the gender identity issue, What Now? We discuss the future of the gender issue—not just what needs to shift in the world of mental health, but society itself. We talk about his work with boys and men; whether Republicans or Democrats are friendlier to heretics; and the reclamation of shame, among other hot topics.
Bio: Joseph Burgo is a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst with more than 45 years’ experience in the field. He works primarily with trans-identified adolescent boys and young men, male detransitioners, and men who struggle with autogynephilia. He has published several books in the realm of popular psychology, teaches psychodynamic theory, and runs a private supervision group for therapists who work with trans-identified youth.

If you’ve ever heard New Hampshire state Representative Jonah Wheeler speak, you’ve witnessed the potent combination of a cool head and conviction (which he’s somehow achieved by age 22). He listens to constituents—and a variety of viewpoints—and tells it like it is. If only we had more Democrats like him!
Earlier this month, Jonah made an explainer video about gender ideology that’s surpassed 1.3 million views.
In this What Now? conversation, we hear how he came to understand this issue; how truth is love; and the need for advocacy groups and Democrats to get a divorce.
In this What Now? conversation, psychiatrist Kris Kaliebe gives a forensic accounting of how medical associations became captured, and the current reality of “geography-based care.” Where should we go from here? To open dialogue…we hope and pray!
Bio: Kris Kaliebe, MDProfessor of Psychiatry, University of South Florida
Kristopher Kaliebe, MD, is a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. He is Board Certified in Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Forensic Psychiatry. He is a Distinguished Fellow at the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). His clinical work has been primarily in University clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers and juvenile corrections. At USF, Dr. Kaliebe instructs medical students, psychiatry residents, and child and adolescent psychiatry fellows and forensic psychiatry fellows. From 2013-2021 he served as co-chair of AACAP’s Media Committee. From 2016 to 2022 he was the liaison between the AACAP and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Kaliebe is concerned about naïve interventionalism in medicine. Dr. Kaliebe co-authored the 2025 HHS Evidence Review of pediatric gender medicine.

I first interviewed Dr. Scot Glasberg in 2024, when several plastic surgeons reached out to complain that the panel he’d convened on gender surgeries with Dr. Hilary Cass had been postponed—due to politics, they were certain. The real story, which we discuss here, was more complicated. And though the piece I wrote about it was killed, the interview led unexpected places.
This was a great interview, covering patient autonomy; the challenge of talking about evidence when others cling to gender medicine as a human right; and why the ASPS chose 19 as the cut-off year for gender surgeries in their new position statement, among many other topics.
Here’s Dr. Glasberg’s impressive bio:

Journalist Brandon Showalter has been in the trenches of the gender culture war for a decade now. I met him a few years ago in said trenches, and, as I’ve written about, it was a perspective-shifting moment for me. Amid all the pain and gaslighting and bad faith arguments, there was a possibility for our narrow worldviews to expand.
I asked Brandon to talk with me about where we overlap and where we don’t, to distill the religious arguments against sex-trait changes, and to share what it’s like to battle against the wrongdoing of your own side. For he is brave enough to call out his own people when they stray.
Bio: Brandon M. Showalter is a journalist with The Christian Post who has reported extensively on the developments of the “gender identity” movement and transgender ideology. He has been featured in a number of documentaries on the subject including the 2022 indie film “Dead Name.” His original documentary podcast, “Generation Indoctrination: Inside the Transgender Battle,” which began in 2022, explores the gender issues in depth.
He was first inspired to pursue a career in writing and journalism while mopping floors and scrubbing toilets as a church custodian in April 2015. He earned a bachelor’s degree in international studies and Spanish from Bridgewater College of Virginia in 2007, and a Master of Arts in human rights from The Catholic University of America in 2022. His favorite thing to do in life is sing.
Cristina Hineman was profiled by Jennifer Block in The Free Press. We spoke about her experience learning that what she was taught about gender were ideas and beliefs—not facts—and the painful realization that she’d altered her body instead of making peace with it.
Sarah and Lisa discuss the New York Times Daily episode about a Tennessee family seeking refuge in Connecticut in their pursuit of puberty blockers and hormones for their distressed child. We contrast that the stories of parents we’ve bore witness to and catalogued for many years now: parents who’ve seen their relationships with their children harmed by the very professionals who should have protected and strengthened those relationships.
We also talk about the UK puberty blocker trial and, just in time for the holidays, Gender GP crosses the pond to come to the US. Lucky us!

Miranda Yardley was the first person in the UK charged with an anti-transgender hate crime. Hilariously, or ironically, or tragically, Yardley himself medically transitioned at some point (though does not identify as a woman), and the person who charged him wasn’t of the trans persuasion. No matter!
Yardley has been actively supporting the pushback against encoding gender identity in law for years, working alongside fellow residents of TERF Island. I wanted to talk to him about how free speech and the movement interrelate, because, as we know from Graham Linehan’s arrest, UK residents do not have a constitutional right to free speech, and some women have been even arrested for their inconvenient truth Tweets, naming the biological reality of sex.
Yardley also explained some of the inner workings of social media censorship, which I found fascinating.
Bio: Miranda Yardley has been speaking out against gender identity extremism since 2013. In 2018 he was questioned, arrested and charged with harassment with the aggravating factor of ‘transgender hate crime’. The attempted prosecution was thrown out of court with the judge stating ‘there never was a case’.
