Somehow in a book so short this author has managed to convey real depth to his characters by way of dialogue and actions in a prison setting that has me wanting to read more, much more. Glad I grabbed more of these beauties and look forward to reading them all! Here's one more sample to break you out, ' He didn't get that I wasn't interested in a conversation and he continued. "I don't get it. I mean. We're nothing like these animals. You're like me. You're professional. I can tell..."
beautiful short story
It took me about a page and a half to get used to the style, but after that I barely noticed it. This story isn't about action. It's a look at a guy serving time on the weekends, just trying to get through his sentence. Subtle, character- and atmosphere-driven, and beautiful.
