The story follows battlefield surgeon Bruce Duncan as he returns home from WWII service to his small hometown in Pennsylvania, opens up a practice, and tries to adjust to normal life. A fascinating cast of characters, relationship dynamics, and the fact that Bruce, his brother, and others are still struggling with PTSD from their wartime experiences.
