-A report by the Veterans Ombudsperson has slammed the federal government for making injured veterans wait months longer than promised for benefits and other supports. 70% of veterans from Afghanistan and Iraq have had to wait an average of 23 or 29 weeks to find out whether they’re eligible for financial assistance or medical treatment for injuries related to their service.
