  • Im Still Here... Now WHAT?

I'm Still Here... NOW WHAT? 👑 | Brown Royalties Dropping Jewels

Last week, I said, “I'm still here.” But eventually, we have to ask ourselves: NOW WHAT?

In this episode of Brown Royalties Dropping Jewels, I'm stepping in front of the camera to have a real conversation about what it means to move beyond survival and start intentionally building the life you want.

I'm sharing part of the story behind Brown Royalties, a vision I began developing while incarcerated during COVID, and why I believe beauty can be so much more than what we see in the mirror. Beauty can be a doorway to confidence, education, self-discovery, preparation, and empowerment.

    But we're also going deeper.

We're talking about the barriers people face when rebuilding after incarceration, the lasting consequences of a criminal record, employment and housing challenges, accountability versus continued punishment, and why people deserve the opportunity to grow beyond their past.

This isn't about avoiding responsibility. It's about asking what happens AFTER accountability—and whether we're truly creating opportunities for people to rebuild their lives.

And through it all, I'm sharing the philosophy behind Brown Royalties: looking the part is only the beginning. Knowing yourself, understanding your purpose, advocating for yourself, and preparing for where you're going are just as important.

👑 IN THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS:

✨ The story behind Brown Royalties and the vision that started in prison

✨ Moving from survival mode to intentionally creating your life

✨ Systemic barriers, employment, housing, and reentry

✨ Accountability versus punishment—and the importance of allowing people to grow

✨ Why confidence is about more than your appearance

    ✨ The 5 P's of Royal Preparation

✨ This week's Beauty Jewel: Confidence

✨ Your Royal Assignment: questions to help you get clear about who you are, where you're going, and what you need to do next

✨ The future of Brown Royalties Dropping Jewels, including guest conversations and Queens' Choice

👑 THE CONVERSATION STARTS WITH YOU

I don't want this podcast to be just me talking to you. I want us talking WITH each other.

So here's my question for you:

Have you ever reached a point in your life where you realized that surviving wasn't enough anymore—and you had to ask yourself, “NOW WHAT?”

What did that next chapter look like for you? What barriers did you face? What did you have to learn, unlearn, or rebuild?

Drop your thoughts in the comments. Let's have an honest conversation.

And if this episode speaks to you, please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, SHARE, and send it to somebody who needs the reminder that their past does not have to define their future.

👑 QUEENS' CHOICE: I want YOU to help shape future conversations. Send me the topics you want discussed, the questions you want answered, and the guests you want to hear from.

Have a story, business, area of expertise, or lived experience you'd like to share? Want to be a guest on the podcast—or invite me onto yours? Let's connect!

Brown Royalties is about more than beauty. It's about building a beautiful, informed, confident, and empowered community.

Thank you for being here, for growing with me, and for giving this vision a chance.

Don't just get cute. Get prepared.

Don't just look good. Know your shit.

This is Brown Royalties Dropping Jewels.

And remember: You don't have to look like what you've been through. 👑

  • I’m Still Here: Don’t Confuse the Storm with the Destination

What happens when you’re doing everything you can to become a better version of yourself—and life still feels heavy?

In Episode 7 of Brown Royalties Dropping Jewels, Mariah Brown gets real about the darkness she’s been navigating behind the scenes: financial struggles, a phone that’s been disconnected, being behind on rent, a business that is growing without yet having the financial structure to sustain that growth, and the exhaustion that comes with navigating systems, people, power, control, and expectations while still trying to build a meaningful life.

After almost a month away from the podcast, Mariah returns without pretending she has everything figured out.

Instead, she talks about what it means to keep moving when you can't see the rainbow yet.

Rooted in the wisdom she heard from her preacher growing up—“If you're gonna pray, don't worry” and “If you're going through hell, keep going”—this episode explores faith, resilience, isolation, self-care, and the difference between being in a dark season and believing that your life is doomed.

    And this week's Beauty Jewel?

You don't have to look like your struggle.

Because being behind doesn't make you a failure.
Being tired doesn't make you weak.
Being in a dark season doesn't mean your light is gone.

Sometimes you have to keep walking before you can see where the road is taking you.

This is the storm—not the destination.

If you're going through something right now, this episode is for you.

    👑 Keep your crown on.
    ✨ Keep your light.
    💎 Keep going.

  • When They Know Your Past

What happens when you walk into a room filled with millionaires, executives, professionals, and people with degrees and credentials—and suddenly start questioning whether you belong there?

In this episode of Brown Royalties: Dropping Jewels, Mariah Brown explores the uncomfortable space between who you used to be and who you've become. We’re talking about imposter phenomenon, stereotype threat, human capital, social capital, lived experience, and the pressure that comes with knowing people may already know your story.

What if your past doesn't disqualify you?
What if your lack of traditional credentials doesn't mean you lack capacity?
What if the room isn't asking you to prove that you're worthy—but giving you an opportunity to discover what you bring to the table?

This episode is a reminder that education doesn't only happen in classrooms, transformation doesn't require you to erase your history, and confidence isn't about believing you're better than anyone else—it's knowing you have something to contribute.

Plus, Mariah shares this week's Royal Tea and Beauty Jewel of the Week, connecting the conversation back to the heart of Brown Royalties:

Beauty → Confidence → Opportunity → New Life.

Because sometimes confidence starts in the mirror—but eventually, it has to walk into the room.

✨ Your past may explain where you came from. But it does not get to decide where you sit.

  • The Jewels about Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship looks glamorous from the outside—but what happens when the cameras turn off?

In this episode of Brown Royalties: Dropping Jewels, Mariah Brown gets real about the side of entrepreneurship we don't always see: the pressure, the fear, the financial uncertainty, the mental exhaustion, the sacrifices, and the constant responsibility that comes with building something of your own.

We’re pouring the Royal Tea on the myth of work-life balance and the idea that entrepreneurship automatically equals financial freedom. Mariah shares personal lessons from building Brown Royalties, navigating motherhood and career-building, making business decisions that didn't always pay off, and learning that failure can become one of your greatest teachers.

She also opens up about her journey after incarceration and how the responsibility that comes with freedom mirrors entrepreneurship: when nobody is coming to tell you what to do, you have to decide who you're going to become.

But beyond the struggle, this episode explores the most beautiful part of building a business: watching something that once existed only in your mind and heart come to life—and knowing that something you created can positively impact someone else's life.

This isn't an episode about getting rich quick.

It's about resilience, purpose, longevity, legacy, and becoming the person capable of carrying the vision you prayed for.

And of course, we're ending with the Beauty Jewel of the Week—because while you're building the brand, don't forget to take care of the person behind it.

✨ If you've been thinking about starting something, rebuilding after a setback, or questioning whether you're really capable of making your vision a reality—this episode is for you.

Your dream doesn't need you to be fearless. It needs you to be willing to start.

Welcome to Brown Royalties: Dropping Jewels.

Royalty isn't about status. It's about purpose.

  • The Crown Still Fits

This week on Brown Royalties: Dropping Jewels, I'm getting real about what it feels like to go back home after incarceration, navigating complicated family dynamics, and learning that your past may explain your story—but it does not determine your future.

In this episode, I share my experience returning to West Virginia over the Fourth of July, the emotions that resurfaced, and why support during reintegration matters more than many people realize. We also unpack the reality of rebuilding your life after incarceration, overcoming stigma, and choosing purpose over people's opinions.

For this week's Beauty Jewel, we're talking about pomade acne—how heavy hair products can contribute to breakouts along your hairline and what you can do to protect your skin this summer.

Finally, I take you behind the scenes of my very first Crowned & Renewed event. Although only 17 of the 47 registered attendees showed up, God reminded me that the people who were meant to be in the room were there. We reflect on the lessons learned, celebrate the incredible women and community partners who supported the mission, and talk about what's next for Brown Royalties as we continue building a bridge for women returning home from incarceration.

If this episode encourages you, please subscribe, leave a review, and share it with someone who needs the reminder that healing, purpose, and second chances are possible.

Because your past may explain your story—but it will never determine your future.

  • A Jewel My Father Left Me: 30 Years Later

This isn't just a story about losing my father.

It's a story about being wanted.

In this deeply personal special episode of Dropping Jewels, I open my heart and share the story of my father's life, his tragic death 30 years ago, and the impact his absence has had on every chapter of my life. Although I was only two years old when he was murdered, and I have just one photo of us together, I've carried one belief with me for as long as I can remember: my father wanted me here.

Together, we'll explore the complicated realities of grief, abandonment, healing, and legacy. I'll share how my first great loss shaped the way I've experienced every loss since, how it influenced the mother I've become, and why honoring those we've lost doesn't have to be rooted only in sadness—it can also be rooted in purpose, gratitude, and love.

Whether you've lost a parent, a loved one, or even the future you imagined, I hope this conversation reminds you that grief isn't something we "get over." It's something we learn to carry with grace.

This episode is dedicated to my father and to everyone learning to find light while carrying loss.

    The jewel of this episode:
"Your existence has value. Your story has purpose. And love has the power to outlive loss."

Thank you for listening to Dropping Jewels. If this episode resonates with you, please share it with someone who may need this reminder today.
