Jesus chose to surround himself with people who the religious leaders had classified as outcasts or unworthy.  This caused problems for Jesus and the disciples more than once.  Yet Jesus was able to leave a legacy of love and truth that included the very people the religious had deemed unworthy.  Isn't it good to know that we are always accepted by God.
