Giving Bonnie “Prince” Billy a glass of whiskey turned out to be harder than it sounds. But I learned a powerful lesson from it: not all communities have your best interests in mind. It’s not because they’re against you, it’s just that they’re not strong enough. Or more specifically, the relational ties within them are not strong enough.
