Look, I’m sorry. Sometimes, instead of talking about some wacky hijinx from history where some person or other did an uh-oh, we have to talk about real systemic horror on Big Time Whoopsies. This week, Eric takes Major Casts co-founder Liam Senior to South America during the time of the conquistadors and encomenderos. It was a time of slavery and murder, where one man fought against it all, and failed miserably. We tried to keep it light, but this is serious stuff, so consider avoiding this one and listening to the one about the buried treasure or something.

Also, a quick note: Liam at one point mentions that “indigenous people” is the preferred nomenclature for native peoples in the Americas. He is correct, but Eric uses the term “Indian” occasionally because the Spanish equivalent (“índios”) is still widely used, and was the only terminology used – as well as a political classification – at the time this story is set. Still, this does not excuse using the term in English, and so Eric apologizes for his insensitivity.
