The Old Testament Law was given as a forerunner to reveal the coming Messiah. It was given as a school teacher to reveal our need and lead us toward a greater focus: Jesus Christ. Paul declares in 1 Corinthians that what Jesus accomplished, purchased, and provided supersedes and is superior to the Old Testament Law. All throughout the New Testament we discover that Christians are no longer bound to the Mosaic Law but rather bound to Christ (a higher Law). The hallmark of Christianity is not circumcision or adhering to the Mosaic Law, instead we are defined by love.
