World-renowned business educator and coach, Dr. Marshall Goldsmith, gives priceless tips for today’s female entrepreneur. Today on the EO Podcast, Dr. Goldsmith discusses the difference between men and women in leadership, and teaches women how to finally be happy and free ourselves from guilt. Thank your “previous yous” and breath 05:50 – The first person you need to forgive is yourself; women want others to be happy, but you should be put first 06:40 – Ask yourself who is being punished and who is punished when you feel bad or guilty over others (you are punished you are punishing) 07:19 – Monk story: Monk carries woman across stream and other monk is upset that he broke the rule (can’t touch women) 08:00 – 1st monk says “shit happens” and moves on while the other is still upset 08:25 – Monk says, “I only carried her across a stream, I didn’t carry her back to the monastery” 8:35 – We carry people around with us through guilt and we need to leave them at the stream 09:00 – Pick a path through life: any path will have trade-offs; make peace with them 09:20 – Farmer in boat story: Don’t get upset at others for being who they are 10:20 – Breathe and imagine being able to give your younger self advice on your deathbed. What would that advice be? 11:00 – Friends interviewed elderly on what their advice to their younger selves would be 11:13 – Be happy now, friends and family first, if you have a dream, go for it, life is short so have fun 11:47 – Help people, go for it, don’t be too hard on yourself 12:20 – Old people don’t regret the risk they failed, they regret the risk they failed to take 3 Key Points: Women tend to be too hard on themselves – Learn to let go of guilt and be happy.
