Budget Vote 2025: Will it pass?

The negotiation teams from the ANC and the DA resumed ahead of the Budget Vote in Parliament this week. Government of National Unity partners the Democratic Alliance and Freedom Front Plus have pledged to not vote to pass in its current form which includes the proposed 0,5% VAT increase.

Meanwhile, The African National Congress remain optimistic that they will get the 201 votes required to pass the Budget. The party has also held meetings with the Mkhonto weSizwe Party, the Economic Freedom Fighters and other parties to garner votes to pass the Budget  beyond the GNU.
