Getting back to our regular Tuesday schedule, America's Favorite Rocket Scientist™ and Big Brain Smart Head™ Bob Luzenski joins Rafe to discuss NASA's highly successful Artemis II mission to the far side of the moon and back to earth.

Ten days in space and nearly 700,000 miles for the crew of Artemis II ended on Friday evening (PDT) off the coast of California.  The mission was, by nearly all accounts, a spectacular success with only a handful of minor issues popping up during the flight.

The images that were acquired while on the far side of the moon were spectacular as well, with great shots being made of an eclipse of the sun, the earth from a record distance away (for humans), and a broad palette of colors from the surface of the far side of the moon.

Public sentiment was high during the entire mission, with all manner of people discussing the voyage in glowing terms.

Happy Easter!  The Buf is still playing with the schedule a bit by re-dropping a classic episode originally from 2022 where Rafe discusses how the passage of time, and its subsequent change in perspective, changes our understanding of the story of our past and our outlook for the story of our future.  

Our perspective of where we are now can change dramatically when future events bring us understanding.  For the small band of followers of Jesus, the Saturday after the crucifixion meant only sadness, fear, and despair.  Easter Sunday morning brought confusion, as the body was missing.  By Sunday evening, their understanding of their pasts had been completely rewritten as Christ revealed to them a new understanding of what they had experienced.  And now, 2000 years later, we carry that Hope forward; Easter has changed everything.

As it is Good Friday, the Buf is messing up the schedule a bit by re-dropping a classic episode originally from 2023 where Rafe takes a short solo episode to discuss the Passion and how it is the oldest and most common story in history: power is threatened by Truth so Truth gets killed.  But Truth has that odd little habit of coming back, which gives us Easter.

Technology may advance but Man stays the same: driven by power and thus corrupt.  There are no new problems; all the problems are old.  The solutions are old too: practice the virtues.

Rocky is a story of a good man who could be Great, if he would only practice discipline and virtue.  In it we learn to see that we must work to fulfill the nature of our design and that a man must fight his dragon, even if he knows that he will lose.

The consequence of taking on this yoke is the fulfillment of the person and the growth of those around you; Love is the result.

Every 12-year-old boy (and most everyone else too) should watch Rocky for what it teaches us about Virtue.

America's Favorite Rocket Scientist™ and Big Brain Smart Head™ Bob Luzenski joins Rafe for the second time this month to update the Buf on some interesting activities with Artemis II and Starliner.

While Episode 277 was on the Buf pad still waiting to drop, NASA attempted a wet dress rehearsal of the Artemis II mission but was unable to overcome pesky hydrogen problems and now the next set of launch windows that are open will be in April.  Meanwhile, the vehicle will need to be rolled back into the assembly building for more checking and testing and adjusting.

Recent NASA press meetings also presented new information concerning 2024's Starliner issues with the potential for astronauts to be "stranded on the space station"; Bob addresses these as well.

All in all, Bob gets us up to date on NASA trying to get back to the moon and lays out, again, why this whole rocket science thing is so difficult.
