De La Soul already established themselves as one of the top hip-hop groups after their 2 previous albums 3 Feet High & Rising and De La Soul is dead. But in 1993, their 3rd album Buhloone Mindstate showed an increased sense of maturity along with their disdain at their own record label and the state of hip-hop. This album is often overlooked due to its more serious undertones, but at its core is easily one of the group's best LPs to date.
