What does it feel like to be at the helm of a 50-year family business?

Ritesh’s grandfather was probably one of the first private Indian ship owners in the world - he started Transworld Group in 1977. Today, they employ ~850 people on land, have about 600 crew that work on their ships. No small feat - for someone who was 100% blind in his left eye, and 75% blind in his right.

Ritesh was 22 when he joined the business, and had to learn the ropes in the heat of the 2008-09 recession. It’s been 14 years since then, I got together with him to learn about how he’s steering the ship.
