Building Bridges With Art with Arghavan Agida

Listen Later

In the light of the current events in Iran, we are honoured to present an interview with Arghavan Agida who represents the voices of international female artists through her project ARTDOM.

Born in Iran during a war-torn time, her father – an artist and writer – decided to flee the country when Arghavan was three through Azerbaijan, then to Germany and in 1989, reached the place she would call home; Sweden. Eleven years ago, Arghavan was presented with the opportunity to join a music competition in London, which brought many people into her periphery; most importantly, women from Iran began to contact her and would write about their inability to share their creative passions due to the oppressed culture they were living in.

An idea was born to share the voices of women who lack the freedom to express themselves freely. ARTDOM project has been running for seven years and matched female visual artists from Sweden and Iran, Norway and Pakistan, and currently UK and India.

Join Rachel Le Roux for this powerful takeover episode with Arghavan as they chat about the challenges she's faced in her journey to support women around the globe.
