GUANGZHOU CTF FINANCE CENTRE RECOGNIZED AS COMPLETE
The 530-m-tall CTF Finance Centre in Guangzhou, China, has been certified complete by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). The structure boasts a Hitachi elevator system that includes the fastest elevator in the world. CTBUH, which held the Guangzhou portion of its 2016 international conference at the CTF Finance Centre, noted the building is the second-tallest in China and the fifth-tallest worldwide. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, it is part of a tall-building boom in China that accounted for 66% of 200-m-plus buildings completed globally in 2016.
AL LANDS 100-PLUS UNIT MAINTENANCE CONTRACT
London-based Amalgamated Lifts (AL) has won a contract to maintain, service and repair more than 100 lifts within the Newlon Housing Trust property portfolio. The contract is set to commence in January 2017. Newlon is a nonprofit organization that provides charitable housing, owning or managing approximately 8,000 affordable homes throughout the London area. Upon landing the contract, AL Managing Director Simon Smith said, "The opportunity permits us to deliver progressive performance and create an environment of improvement that will set new standards for major contracts across London."
CEA JANUARY MEETING WITH SPEAKER FROM MATOT
Chicago Elevator Association (CEA) plans to hold a meeting on January 5 at The Clubhouse, 298 Oakbrook Center, Oakbrook, Illinois. A speaker from Matot is scheduled, and dinner is expected to start at 6:30 p.m. Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP no later than today to email. More information can be found on CEA’s website.
