The news about Bungie layoffs hit in waves, and now we have substantial information from sources at the company. We will likely see Destiny 2 The Final Shape delayed along with the Marathon release date landing in 2025. I had no plans on covering this but the story became too large to ignore.

I haven't covered Destiny the game since early 2021 and this will be focused on what happened with the Destiny 2 layoffs and delays and not the gameplay or content. While initial theories were that PlayStation was the cause of this, it was primarily caused by missed revenue targets and lowered interest in Destiny 2 Final Shape. Analysts do think, however, that PlayStation is lowering costs.
