John says that God's commands are not burdensome.  But this seems to contradict our own experience.  For many of us, obeying God ends in failure, futility, and disappointment.  We find obeying God to be hard and joyless.  Yet Jesus says that his yoke is easy and his burden is light.  Then how come we find God's commands to be so burdensome?
