This week's "East Tennessee Now" is all about the kiddos, starting with the Burger Bash to benefit East Tennessee Children's Hospital. World's Fair Park in Downtown Knoxville is the place to be on August 11, 2018. From 11-4, you can make your way around the park and sample sliders... as dozens of teams compete for your vote! Seth Linkous, Communications Director for ETCH explains how the money generated from $10 ticket sales and the team entries will provide alternative treatment options for the hospital's little patients. Some of those treatments include essential oils to relieve pain, as well as massage therapy for pain management.
Yes it is the summer, but for the Emerald Youth Foundation, it's almost Christmas in July! The organization is running this campaign to get a kick start on Christmas, so city kids will have an extra special holiday when it does roll around. They are collecting new gifts to stock Emerald's Christmas Store where parents shop for deep discounts. It helps families provide Christmas for their children and teens. John Crooks, Emerald's Director of Communications and Erin Wright, Campus Activities Coordinator tell us about the program and campaign's success.
