Fire is a commonly used metaphor for God’s judgment. The critical thing to understand is that this field (Hebrews 6:7-8) is not destroyed by fire, just as the saved believer is not cast into separation from God; rather, verses 7 and 8 describe the process of clearing away spiritual thorns and weeds. Although this process might be painful and feel like judgment, it is done by God, not by men (Luke 18:27), to draw the believer closer to Him (Hebrews 12:6-11).
