Exhausted? Overwhelmed? Anxious? Hopeless? Numb? Restless? Depressed?... These are just a few of the feelings that may wash over us when we reach Burnout- and lets be honest- we've all been there. How could we not? In this modern world advancing so rapidly, burnout is inevitable when we have so many stressful situations in our lives now more than ever.
From work overload at the office, overextending yourself at home for family, in school undergoing rigorous curriculum expectations or friend dramas, or even overexercising - burnout rears its ugly head when we've undergone chronic stress in any aspect of the many demanding dynamics of our lives. Ugly, but necessary, burnout is our body, mind & spirit's way of telling us it's time to reassess how we're living our lives. It is not natural for us to operate under such stressing conditions for prolonged periods of time as we do.
We can rest easy recognizing we've all been here at some point or another, sharing this burden collectively. Together, too, we can learn & grow from understanding exactly what it is we are experiencing.
With a little perspective, burnout can actually be a beautiful thing. The beauty of burnout is that it is the body's ability to course correct us even when we resist on a conscious level. When our conscious minds do not tell us enough is enough (or when we ignore that voice in our head begging us to take a break) eventually burnout will break us down and force us to stop.
Today, we talk about embracing the moment & feeling our way through the effects of burnout, recognizing when we've had enough, identifying our triggers, removing as many stressors as we can, & simplifying our situations to better navigate these trying times to ideally avoid burnout altogether next time for a healthier, happier future.
Time to embrace the effects of burnout- the good, bad & ugly. If you're currently feeling the effects of burnout like me, remember your vessel is so intelligent for forcing you to slow down right now, so give yourself some gratitude and rest easy recognizing you're exactly where you need to be. You deserve a break, so take this time and do your best to be gentle, kind, & compassionate with yourself. Face the feelings, stay present, get real, and we can get through this together. xx- your Soul Sis
