Celebrating Robert Burns: A Night of Storytelling and Tradition

Listen Later

This evening, we gather to honour the illustrious Robert Burns, the National Poet of Scotland, whose birthday is celebrated with heartfelt reverence. As we partake in the time-honoured tradition of Burns Night, we reflect on the inaugural commemoration held in 1801, which has flourished into a cherished annual event characterised by the ceremonial Burns Supper, featuring haggis and the evocative "Address to the Haggis."

Our storytelling journey commences with the enchanting tale of the Selkie Bride, a mystical narrative steeped in Scottish folklore, followed by the captivating saga of the Celtic goddesses, Bride and Beira, whose contrasting natures lead to compelling conflicts in “Saving the Forest.” As we share these tales, we invite you to immerse yourselves in the rich tapestry of Scottish culture and the timeless magic of storytelling. Join us in raising a glass to camaraderie and joy, as we celebrate the depth of our shared heritage.
