Romans 12:2 - conforming to the world or being transformed?

Isn’t following trends or being trendy conforming to the world??  

It’s a sad day when you hear a reason or justification for something and it sounds like this… “because it’s trendy”

Who cares what’s trendy? Why is that a concern? For kids in school, is it because they don’t want to be made fun of? Is it because they want to fit in? Is it because they have ZERO self-esteem, so they have to just do what everyone else does?

That’s such a dangerous road…
