Sloane and Rowan are both vigilante serial killers. When they run into each other while hunting down the same man, Rowan offers up an opportunity for them to have an annual game. Sloane certainly can't turn down the competition. So the two spend each August hunting down the same mark. And over time their friendship and then eventually their romantic relationship grows.
